Interaction Idea

Separate the terry fabric pouch from the handle by unscrewing the center section. Place 1 or 2 ice cubes into terry pouch and screw ring back onto handle. Continue to tighten the ring as far as it will go. Tug on the fabric pouch before giving to baby to ensure proper assembly. Give teether to child and encourage him/her to mouth the terry pouch. The cool, textured surfaces of the terry cloth will help massage inflamed gums.

Developmental Insight

At 3 months, babies communicate with cooing and babbling. At 6 months, they being to repeat syllables. Teethers helps baby become aware of their mouths. This awareness is necessary for emerging babble sounds.
